No more insomnia trouble! Today, I’m a show you how to make your insomnia disappear.
You think I’m bluffing?!
I feel you! When it’s too good to be true, it’s too good to be true!
But wait ‘till you apply these tricks before judging!
Still, I understand that you may be suspicious. You must already be frustrated with all those damn articles you have to read. Those recipes you have to prepare and those pills you have to take. All this for such a simple thing: closing your eyes and having sweet dreams. Why should it be this complicated?
You are not alone my friend; insomnia is affecting more and more individuals. Nearly 70 million Americans have a sleeping disorder. Insomnia is the most common sleep disorder, with 30% of adults experiencing short-term insomnia. In Canada, the individual economic burden of insomnia is estimated at $5,010 per person per year, with nearly 90% of this amount attributed to indirect costs such as work absenteeism and reduced productivity.
Which’s one more reason why I decided to let you in on the secret: How I was able to overcome insomnia without pills, recipes, and without great effort?
Ready? Let’s go !
1. MEDITATION TO OVERCOME INSOMNIA:
I know, I know. You already know the benefices of mediation. You may have been practicing for years now. But did you know that it could help you sleep too? Oh yeah!
I’m going to introduce you to a new benefit of this practice which is thousands of years old.
In fact, I discovered it by pure coincidence. I was just discovering meditation and practicing it a few times per week. I learned that it was possible to transform any daily activity into a meditation.
One day, I could not sleep. I tried everything, I was going mad! Then this genius idea popped up in my head. I started my meditation lying in my bed (yes, I know it’s not the original position but who cares!). To my surprise, in less than an hour, I slept like a baby!
It comes from the fact that many times, it’s our flow of thoughts (negatives ones in particular). This will make sleeping more difficult since the already active brain is in the thinking process.
All you have to do is close your eyes, and let those thoughts fly through your head, without trying to control them, or stop them. Just remember, YOU ARE NOT YOUR MIND.
Now, you are going to watch your ideas from a far, without intervening. Every thought will come and go smoothly (garbage in, garbage out). Sometimes, I imagine my mind like a printer and every printed paper represents an idea. As soon as an idea appears, a paper gets printed. It leaves my mind automatically and disappears immediately.
There are people who imagine those thoughts as if they were clouds. It’s up to you to use your own imagination. If “negative” emotions are stopping you from getting asleep, then try to observe your emotions as well. YOU ARE NOT YOUR EMOTIONS NEITHER!
Watch your breathing as well. Try to observe the air coming in and leaving your lungs.
2. ALPHA LEVEL TO OVERCOME INSOMNIA :
The brain produces cerebral waves all the time. The rhythms of those waves could be measured, and classified into few levels (alpha, beta, delta and theta). Alpha rhythms are the ones that’s are produced when our eyes are closed and we are in a completely relaxed state.
Alpha level occurs naturally before somebody sleeps. You could achieve the alpha state consciously if you want to.
In the alpha state, your mind is calm. Both of your brain’s hemispheres work in perfect harmony.
Here’s how you can achieve the alpha state:
Close your eyes and start counting slowly from 100 to 1.Visualize big numbers and stare at them for a moment.
At certain moments of counting down (which is different for each person) you will feel something strange:
Either your body becomes light, or your body becomes heavy. Some people may even feel vibrations similar to chills on their back.
Your body’s tension will go down, and your body will be relaxed. Your brain’s activity will slow down. You have entered the alpha state.
Observe the sensation, and the number you reached as you were doing the count-down. Stay like this for a couple of minutes.
After a few minutes, you will find yourself in the kingdom of dreams!
3. SELF-HYPNOSIS:
Self-hyponsis has so many advantages. It may help you sleep peacefully, and at the same time, you can include affirmations that will help you gain self-confidence.
Here’s a simple self-hypnosis exercise that may help:
